The numbers of the 22nd edition of CIBUS – International Food Exhibition<\/strong> surpassed all previous events, setting a new record for trade fairs in Italy: more than 3,000 brands present and 2,000 top international buyers from the main global markets<\/strong>. In fact, this edition featured visitors from markets such as the United States, Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Middle East<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In addition, 2024 was also the year of the return of the Asean countries, thanks to the presence of China<\/strong>, a major absentee during the pandemic, and a delegation from Japan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2023, agribusiness exports<\/a><\/strong>, according to Istat data, despite a slight decline in volumes are worth more than 52 billion euros, an increase of +6.6 percent compared to 2022<\/strong>. The sector’s horizon is very uncertain globally due to the uncertainty of international scenarios and intra- and extra-EU regulations. Despite the reduction in margins and disposable income, the risk of new duties and hyper-restrictive legislation, companies in the sector continue to invest and innovate<\/a>, looking increasingly at the needs of the consumer and the planet, as demonstrated by the thousands of products on display at CIBUS 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

CIBUS and innovation: some trends for the future<\/h2>\n

During the four days of the historic Italian food fair, Roncucci&Partners saw many new product innovations, including: musical lollipops, the ice cream-not ice cream mini-cone, the vegetable egg, truffle salami with parmesan cheese covering, and the balsamic vinegar chutney from Modena. Notable among the major trends<\/strong> are those related to health and wellness<\/strong>, starring collagen, which is present in numerous beverages and foods.<\/p>\n

Also among the most interesting new developments is the application of Artificial Intelligence<\/strong><\/a> to combat food counterfeiting<\/strong>. Great attention was also paid to the issue of sustainability, addressed in the conference \u201cModern Tools for a Sustainable Agrifood Supply Chain,\u201d with a focus on strategies and best practices to be implemented to boost Made in Italy exports.<\/p>\n
