The entrepreneurial mission writing Italian Fashion towards Dubai 2020โ€™s new chapter is scheduled from 20th to 25th October.

No less important was the meeting with the top management of DIDI – the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation – the university established to address the growing need for talented designers and innovators in the United Arab Emirates. DIDI University is the first multidisciplinary design university in the Middle East. It hosts students both regionally and internationally and is in fact an interesting talent incubator for the fashion industry in the region and beyond. After the interesting visit to DIDI, Emilia-Romagna companies visited Si Fashion Galerie, the multidimensional fashion house located in the heart of the Dubai Design District. Launched in 2008, Si Fashion Galerie offers an interesting mix of high quality proposals, from personalized clothes to ready-to-wear ones.
This gallery is potentially interesting for Made in Italy fashion companies looking for new spaces to present their collections.
Last but not least, the interesting briefing with the top management of Elle Arab World – the world famous magazine dedicated to the fashion&beauty industry – organized in order to explore the possibilities of future collaborations on the territory in the promotional field.

Italian Fashion towards Dubai 2020: the project revitalizing Emilia-Romagna companies in the fashion system

Launched in February 2019, the Italian Fashion towards Dubai 2020 project composes of a series of distinct operational phases aiming at preparing companies for subsequent integrated participation in Expo Dubai 2020, the Universal Exposition in Dubai that will involve over 180 nations, with an estimated visitor flow of around 25 million.
Promoted by Unioncamere Emilia-Romagna in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Chamber System and the co-financed by the Emilia-Romagna Region, the project aims to make the most of the opportunities offered by the United Arab Emirates, a rapidly growing market for the luxury sector, which will be projected to the centre of world attention thanks to the Expo 2020.
“It is important to enhance the Fashion System – declared to Ansa Claudio Pasini, Secretary General of Unioncamere Emilia Romagna – which in our region is the second largest manufacturing sector in terms of export value and the fourth largest in terms of number of employees in the region, respecting its identity and promoting its excellence also abroad. This project, which involves the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Chambers System in synergy, aims to be led to Dubai 2020”.

The stages of the project, waiting for Dubai 2020

The current mission is only one of the stages of the project that aims at leading its companies to the 2020 Expo. In September, a technical mission was carried out, mainly aimed at understanding the types and methods of market introduction. It involved meetings with local players interested in introducing new representative brands of Made in Italy fashion to the Dubai market and, more generally, to the Middle East area.
The current mission was also preceded by the incoming of eleven Emirates operators in Bologna last June. Coming from the Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the operators had the opportunity to meet the Emilia-Romagna companies participating in the project in three days of b2b meetings and visits to regional fashion manufacturing centres.
